Our client is Eurasia Group, a leading publicly traded company in France. This elevator modernization project involves all 12 high-speed elevators in Tour First, the company’s hotel and France’s tallest building. The existing elevator systems, which have been in operation for over 50 years, could no longer meet the building’s daily passenger traffic demands. The project not only required an upgrade in elevator performance but also had to strictly comply with the local European standard NF E85-000.
| Project Location | Paris, France |
| Project Type | High-rise hotel (France’s Tallest Building) |
| Units | 12 |
| Floors | 39 |
| Speed | 4.0m/s |
| Project Time | Dec 2025 |
Why the Client Chose Modernization Over Replacement
Due to France’s stringent acceptance standards and the high cost of replacement, the client sought to shorten the construction timeline; a complete elevator replacement was not feasible.
Project Challenges
The existing system was outdated and unstable
High-speed elevators demand higher technical standards
The elevators needed to serve both passenger and freight transport needs
Installation had to comply with strict French standards
Project execution had to avoid prolonged downtime
Our Solution
Before proposing a solution, our engineers conducted an on-site inspection in France to understand the existing system and building conditions fully. Based on this assessment, we developed a customized modernization plan.
We utilized a permanent magnet synchronous gearless traction machine paired with six 13mm steel wire ropes. This configuration offers advantages such as energy efficiency and low noise, making it better suited for the heavy-load scenarios throughout the building.
- Adoption of a gearless traction system to improve efficiency and reduce mechanical complexity
- Optimization of wire rope configuration to achieve better load distribution
- Enhancement of the control system to enable stable high-speed operation
- Selection of components compliant with European standards
