Core Difference: Machine Room
The operation of an elevator requires the cooperation of many core components, such as the traction machine, controller, wire rope, speed limiter, etc. These devices need to be placed reasonably, and their placement is the biggest difference between the two types of elevators:
MR (Machine Room) Elevator: A separate room will be set up at the top of the elevator, and its main function is to place these devices in the machine room. In addition, maintenance personnel are allowed to enter.
MRL (Machine Room Less): It means that there is no separate elevator machine room, and the core components in the original machine room are directly placed in the elevator shaft.

6 Key Differences
1. MRL elevators save space and have lower construction costs than MR elevators.
2. MRL elevators have higher equipment integration and are more expensive than MR elevators.
3. MRL elevators are suitable for low-rise and low-speed buildings (such as residential buildings and small commercial buildings), while MR elevators are suitable for high-rise or high-speed buildings (such as office buildings and hotels)
4. MRL elevator equipment is close to the shaft, and the operating noise is slightly greater than MR elevators.
5. The machine room height of the MR elevator is generally required to be 2500mm (the actual value of the machine room height can be more than 2000 mm); the top floor height of the MRL elevator is at least 4500mm (the speed below 1.0m/s can be relaxed).
6. Home elevators are all machine room-less.
Choosing a MR or MRL elevator depends on your building structure. You can contact Dazen experts, we are good at non-standard projects, whether it is a short machine room, a machine room-less, or a small shaft, we can provide the best solution for you.
