Escalator Dimensions
Escalators are the most efficient for continuous passenger transportation between building floors. They are widely used in public places such as shopping malls, airports, and stations. Here are the escalator dimensions and drawings you need to know:
1. Lifting height: Typically up to 10 meters, with special cases extending to 40 meters.
2. Step width: 600mm, 800mm, and 1000mm.
3. Inclination: Commonly 30° or 35°.
4. Ladder shaft width:
Single escalator: ladder width + 0.6m + 2 × 0.4m
Double escalator: 2 (ladder width + 0.6m) + 2 × 0.4m
(0.4m is the safe distance from the ladder side to the shaft).
5. Escalator shaft length: Floor height / tanα + (2.0～2.9m) + (2.0～2.3m), where α is the inclination angle
6. Speed: Typically 0.5 m/s, with some models reaching 0.65 m/s or 0.75 m/s.
7. Safety Design: The width of the population-free zone should not be less than 2.50 meters. In areas with high foot traffic, the width should be increased accordingly.
8. Theoretical conveying capacity: calculated according to the speed of 0.5 m/s, the conveying capacity of different step widths is 4500 people/hour, 6750 people/hour, and 9000 people/hour respectively.
Case - Escalator (Single) Dimensions for 4m Height
1. According to safety standards, the escalator step=600mm, the truss length should add 417MM.
2. On the R1, and R2, parts for loading shall be provided, their carrying capacity be more than R1, and R2.
3. When installation happens up the second floor, remove the pit. The up and lower pit should be symmetrical.
4. At the entrance of the escalator there shall be a fully open area to accommodate passengers, the width of the open area shall be the width of the escalator and the depth shall be at least 2.5 m from the end of the handrail, if the width of the area is increased to more than twice the width of the escalator, the depth dimension is allowed to be reduced to 2 metres.
5. Main power is three phase 220VAC +7%, 60HZ. Lighting power is single phase 220V, 15A. User provides a grounded point with a less than 4Ω. Line assembly of main power shall follow three phases five lines.
